Secret
Sauce Studio is the home of freelance illustrator, cartoonist
and cage fighter Joe Rocco. Joe grew up a Yankee, wandering
the modern glass and metal beehive known as Manhattan, then eventually
exploring the Great Malls of East Texas in the suburban landscapes of
outer Dallas/Ft. Worth as a teen. Joe graduated from the prestigious
Art Center College of Design, in Pasadena, California and then worked
in New York City for many magazines, book publishers, newspapers and
various entertainment media organizations. Today, he works in the backyard
of movie stars and plastic surgery victims, who prowl the Hollywood
Hills of Southern California near Laurel Canyon. Mr.
Rocco lives with his cat Quigman, still concocting his illustrations
and comics for everyone under the Sun.
Sometimes,
Joe hears the ghost of Gloria Swanson and her beloved pet monkey, howling
at the full moon after midnight, from their perch above The Chateau
Marmont.
Joe
has won several newspaper awards, including the Society of Publication
Design, for some of his cover work and 2 Alternative Newspaper Awards.
For 10 years, Joe self-published and distributed his own cartoon, "Enquiring
Minds", with writing partner Mandy Foster, to alternative newspapers
in The United States and Canada. For almost a full decade, Joe illustrated
for the popular columnist Joe Bob Briggs. Joe Bob's newspaper column,
"Joe Bob's America", was syndicated by The New York Times.
Mr.
Rocco is available for school appearances, interviews, book signings
and bar mitzvahs. He's spoken at public schools, colleges, libraries,
and signed his books at bookstores nationwide.

Señor
Rocco uses both traditional and digital mediums to create his illustrations
and personal work. He is not afraid of this new invention called "the
internet", and loves to visit Google and Youtube as often as he
can, on the Devil's typewriter. Joe's invoices are usually sent via
e-mail as a pdf file, but he can mail out bills on parchment paper,
using his beloved feather pen.
The
New York Times, The Chicago Tribune, The LA Times, Harper Collins Publishing,
Entertainment Weekly, Time, Sports Illustrated, S.I. For Kids, Forbes,
Disney, Nickelodeon, Premiere, Scholastic Publications, National Geographic
for Kids, Fantagraphics Comics, and many other national newspapers and
magazines.
